OUR JUDGES

HOW IT WORKS

The expo will be judged in two rounds. In the first round, photographers will submit their images as digital files which the judging panel will independently score. The scores will be tallied to determine the top 80 scoring images.

If you submitted one or more of the top 80 scoring images, you will be notified by email and invited to submit prints of your top-scoring images for the second round of judging. The judges will determine the overall winners of the competition based on the prints. Eight (8) different prizes will be awarded.

The prints will be exhibited and will be available for sale to the public at the Ladysmith Waterfront Art Gallery from November 1 to 30, 2011.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

We want to encourage active participation by all photographers of all ranks and skills, so the fee is very simple and very affordable. It costs only $15 per image to enter, and only 20% gallery commission if you sell a print during the Exhibition.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. How many images can I submit?
A. There is no limit on the number of images you can submit.

Q. Are there any restrictions or limitations on subject matter?
A. Any subject or topic is fine. You may enter images of anywhere in the world and of any subject matter that interests you the most. The only categories are Colour and Black & White.

Q. Why do you require a title for each image?
A. The title you choose for an image can be key to understanding the creative intent behind the image and can influence the judge's decision in your favour. Consider your titles carefully. If you are submitting more than one image, be sure to carefully indicate which title goes with which file.

OTHER TIPS AND INFORMATION

1. Please don't embed a signature or other visible marks or symbols in your images that could identify you as the maker. We want the judging process to be anonymous.

2. Please be sure the prints you submit (if you're among the 80 top scoring images) are of the same images you originally submitted in digital form.
